Director, Engineering - Detection Platform

Datadog is seeking a Director of Engineering for its Detection Platform organization, responsible for helping customers identify, understand, and act on issues across their environments through alerting, event intelligence, and autonomous detection capabilities. The Director leads engineering managers and teams responsible for foundational alerting infrastructure, event management, monitor creation experiences, and AI-powered detection systems — at the center of Datadog's efforts to evolve how customers detect, investigate, and respond to operational issues at massive scale. Based in New York, NY (hybrid). Salary: $280,000–$350,000 USD.

• Significant experience leading engineering organizations that build large-scale platforms, infrastructure, observability, monitoring, or developer-facing products. • Deep technical expertise combined with strong product instincts; ability to make architectural decisions while understanding customer needs and business impact. • Experience leading leaders and managing engineering managers across multiple teams and domains. • Track record of defining long-term technical vision, building organizational alignment, and delivering complex initiatives through execution. • Experience working with machine learning, AI-enabled products, intelligent automation, or large-scale detection systems. • Effective communicator who can inspire teams, influence senior stakeholders, and navigate ambiguity while driving measurable outcomes.
