Senior Systems Engineer, IVD Software

Veracyte (Nasdaq: VCYT), a global diagnostics company transforming cancer care, is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer for its commercial in vitro diagnostic (IVD) software product deployed across diverse customer environments. The role is a senior individual contributor and recognized technical authority responsible for the system architecture, reliability, and long-term operability of a Windows-based IVD software product deployed to 100+ customer installations. The engineer operates with broad autonomy and influence, proactively identifying systemic risks, anticipating environment-specific failure modes, and shaping system design decisions early in the product lifecycle. Hybrid in South San Francisco, CA. Salary: $183,000–$225,000 USD.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience. • Minimum 6–7 years of experience supporting commercial product software. • Deep hands-on experience with Windows Server environments, including IIS and SQL Server in production. • Strong working knowledge of Linux systems (Ubuntu, RHEL-based distributions) in product deployments. • Proven experience with Docker and containerized application deployments. • Experience supporting products deployed across virtualized environments (VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud infrastructure. • Hands-on experience with AWS services such as EC2, VPC, IAM, and storage services. • Demonstrated ability to proactively diagnose and resolve complex system-level issues across software, OS, and infrastructure layers. • Experience developing automation scripts using Bash, PowerShell, Python, or similar languages. • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and release workflows in regulated or quality-focused environments.
