Senior Engineering Manager, AI Gateway

Cloudflare is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager for AI Gateway to lead a small, high-velocity team building the AI inference gateway layer. This is a deeply hands-on role requiring the manager to be in the code, design docs, customer conversations, and trenches with the team. The role demands AI-native building: using Cloudflare AI Gateway, Workers AI, and the broader agent stack to build the environment that builds the product. Based in Austin, TX (hybrid). • Minimum 8 years of relevant industry experience, including at least 4 years managing software engineering teams. • Proven track record leading teams that have shipped and operated complex, large-scale systems — preferably in AI infrastructure, developer platforms, cloud infrastructure, edge/proxy systems, or high-scale APIs. • Significant technical depth, with the ability to guide architectural discussions, make credible technical decisions, review designs, and unblock the team. • Strong developer tools taste — experience building and using APIs, SDKs, dashboards, CLIs, and internal platforms. • Demonstrated ability to hire, coach, and develop senior engineers and build high-performing inclusive teams. • Hands-on approach to leadership: considers yourself a builder, stays close to the code, knows the numbers and the customer.
