About the Role
SUMMARY
Sensiple Inc., a New Jersey-based technology solutions firm with over 20 years of expertise, is seeking a Lead Python Developer to join a core development team at one of our enterprise clients. This is a 6-month onsite contract role based in Hartford, Connecticut, focused on designing and optimizing scalable cloud-native applications on the Azure platform.
You will work with a talented team delivering Customer Experience and Digital Transformation solutions across Healthcare, Technology, Retail, Logistics, Education, Telecommunications, Government, and Media sectors.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Backend Development & Architecture
• Design, build, and optimize Python-based APIs and microservices using FastAPI or Flask frameworks
• Develop and maintain data pipelines and ETL processes; write and optimize PySpark and SQL code in Databricks environments
• Architect and implement microservices using Kubernetes, Docker, AKS, and containerization best practices
• Lead integration with Azure Data Factory, Synapse DB, and other Azure platform services
• Mentor junior developers on code quality, design patterns, and cloud architecture principles
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on full SDLC execution, from requirements to deployment
Data Engineering & Optimization
• Design schemas and optimize SQL queries across MongoDB, Cosmos DB, relational databases, and Synapse DB
• Build event-driven systems using Kafka and Lambda functions
• Implement medallion architecture patterns in Databricks; manage Unity Catalog and Databricks Notebooks
• Ensure data quality, performance, and security across all pipeline layers
Cloud & DevOps
• Deploy and manage applications on Azure cloud infrastructure
• Implement CI/CD pipelines using Git and industry-standard deployment tools
• Build RESTful APIs with strong authentication and authorization patterns
• Troubleshoot performance bottlenecks in production cloud environments
Frontend Integration (6–8+ years experience)
• Consume and integrate APIs with React and Redux-based frontend applications
• Contribute to frontend architecture using JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3
• Work with build tools (Webpack, Gulp) and UI frameworks such as Google Material Design
• Ensure seamless data flow between backend APIs and frontend interfaces
Agile & Team Collaboration
• Participate in Agile ceremonies (sprints, standups, retrospectives) and manage tasks via Jira
• Communicate blockers transparently and prioritize competing deliverables with your team
• Contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements
Mandatory Experience
• 8–12+ years of hands-on Python development and API development
• 6–8+ years of professional React and frontend development experience
• Strong SQL scripting, query optimization, and database design expertise
• Demonstrated experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and container orchestration (AKS or EKS)
• Hands-on experience with Databricks, PySpark, and medallion architecture patterns
• Proven track record building microservices and event-driven systems (Kafka, Lambda)
• Experience designing and deploying applications on Azure platform (Azure Data Factory, Synapse DB)
• Proficiency in Python frameworks: FastAPI or Flask
• Strong knowledge of MongoDB, Cosmos DB, and relational databases
• Experience with RESTful API design, authentication patterns, and cloud environments
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies, Jira, and CI/CD pipelines (Git)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to mentor and collaborate effectively
Nice to Have
• Experience with Ray distributed computing framework
• AWS or GCP platform experience (in addition to Azure)
• Security clearance or ability to obtain clearance if required
Work Authorization
• Must have valid work authorization to work in the United States (work visa, green card, or U.S. citizenship)
